For the first time ever, The KINGS & QUEENS OF COMEDY ASIA were in Kuching! This 9th edition of Singapore’s biggest standup comedy extravaganza featured eight of the hottest Kings & Queens of comedy from Singapore and Malaysia. The cast consisted of Rizal Van Geyzel (MY), Fakkah Fuzz (SG), Sharul Channa (SG), Rishi Budhrani (SG), Kavin J (MY), Jason Leong (MY), Joanne Kan (MY) and Jinx Yeo (SG).

It was a night of raucous laughter from the Kuching crowd — definitely one to remember for the Comedy scene in Kuching!

Paying homage to one of the biggest rock bands of all time, Queen, and all the greatness of the late Freddie Mercury.

Front Row Entertainment brought the roof down at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) last Saturday, 30 July 2022. Together with the vocal prowess of Alfred Ayal, known as the Freddie Mercury of Indonesia, matched onstage with guitar maestro Alif Putra, who has opened for Metallica in 2013 and played with Steve Vai onstage in 2014.

Alfred, Alif together with the energetic line-up of musicians from Singapore, Killer Queen (comprising of Yazeid on bass, Matthias on drums and Reno Fendy on keys), brought the audience on their feet with 24 non-stop hits by Queen during the 2-hour set.

The performance by Dewi Seriestha, belting to You Take My Breath Away, accompanied by the haunting melodious keys by Reno, was definitely one of the highlights of the evening.

Not forgetting the fusion modern-meets-traditional rendition of Love of My Life, featuring Eddy on acoustic and Sape player synonymous to Sarawak, Mathew Ngau. Definitely made headlines on Suara Sarawak, a popular local media channel. To top it off, Michael King belted to Who Wants To Live Forever with his signature operatic vocals as one of the featured artistes of the evening.

Another crowd favourite surprise performance was when Alif played Ibu Pertiwiku, Sarawak’s state anthem, that got the crowd on their feet and singing along. We definitely had chills too watching the whole performance and how Sarawakians stood with pride!

The evening ended with We Are The Champions with all the performers back on stage to a roaring audience.

Wow! What a week for the Sarawak entertainment scene: Two fantastic shows in a space of four days! Thank you first & foremost to our Artistes, Jolynn J. Chin & Dewi Seriestha, and not forgetting Michael King, Yudi, Cikgu Ben & son, Eugene, and all the supporting cast for making this even possible. Also to the dependable & dynamic ‘FFR Club’ Front Row crew whom we couldn’t have done this without.
